Sanding an Odd shaped bezel

Hi Gang and Happy New Year

Was Previously: New to bezel setting I often make bezels for odd
shaped stones and sometimes the bezel top is uncomfortable to hold or
is too large for my fingers to keep it flat. I have been
experimenting with a bunch of ways to still accomplish a flat bottom.
The following help when it is difficult to hold a bezel down evenly
due to size or shape.

Try any of these to see which one works best:

  • use an eraser to hold the item down flat
  • use a piece of potato same as with the eraser
  • use an old jar lid filled with sticky-tac or like (the blue
plasticine like stuff for attaching posters to the wall without
ruining the paint) and press the bezel into the sticky-tac.

Hope these help others as they have helped me. I feel this is going
to be a great year!
