Hi,
we are looking for nice examples of jewelry incorporating rough
crystals such as spinel or diamond octahedra. my brain has been
wrapped around that shape until it feels like a pretzel but i still
can’t think of a really good way to make a setting for an
octahedron. any ideas?

You might want to check out Todd Reed’s work at www.toddreed.com He
uses lots of rough diamonds in everything from singles to mosaics and
array designs. Quite a gifted designer and goldsmith.
Usual disclaimer: never met him, wouldn’t know him if he bit me, etc,
etc.

You Should also check out Petra Class. She has done several shows
with Todd Reed. she’s based out Of SanFrancisco…I used to work for
her, until I moved home to Ohio. But anyhow she uses rough diamands
as well as rough lapis…coral.etc… Unfortunatly she doesn’t have a
web site… and I don’t have the right to hand out her number… but
maybe you good get intouch with her through Snag…
