Ring worn by Queen Elizabeth

I found this very unique…

The Chequers’ Ring s is an intensely personal object that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth I.

An exquisitely crafted ring, it is fashioned from mother-of-pearl and embossed with rubies and diamonds, which opens to reveal two portraits.

One portrait is of Elizabeth I while the other portrait is thought to be her mother, Anne Boleyn, the second of Henry VIII’s wives. Elizabeth I wore this ring until the day she died.

Thank you Kimberly for sharing that with us. What an exquisite piece of Elizabethan craftsmanship, and such a touching story!

The portraits blew my mind! Incredibly detailed for the time.

I wish we could see it closed to determine how the latch works on the top.
