Reticulating Bi-Metal

Hi Folks,

I have been using a crinkle reticulating bi-metal that I had been purchasing through Reactive Metals Studio, made by Shining Wave Metals. It is a bi-metal that has a reticulation alloy on one side with a fine silver backing. This made it special because you could saw out a shape, and then reticulate the metal. Because of the fine silver backing, the form kept its shape, and the bottom remained flat, and the top was reticulated or crinkled. You could then continue fabrication with the crinkled shape. I use this a lot in my pierced and layered pieces. Since, sadly, Phillip Baldwin passed, I have not been able to find it any longer. Does anybody know if somebody else is making this bi-metal? I would make it if I could figure out how. I have made gold bimetal by fusing, but I am pretty sure this would be a completely different process that I don’t think I could replicate.

Have you reached out to folks at Reactive Metals? They were working to keep some of Shining Waves metals still available. As I remember it Reactive Metals was one of the primary suppliers of Shining Wave metals and other items.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I did reach out to Reactive Metals, and they were the supplier that I had purchased it from in the past. However, James Binnion did reply to me, and I now have it taken care of. Thanks so much for your reply!
