Duncan, Stick with the ferric chloride, it’s safer. All that you are
lacking is some agitation. The byproducts of the etching process are
building up inside the tube and preventing fresh acid from getting to
the copper. Heat it up so it’s warm, not boiling, and provide an
agitation method somehow. Yecccch.
