Rapid Prototyping Class Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles

‘Virtual Image to Real Object’

June 26 to August 4 Mon. and Wed. 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

The class begins with learning how to create a 3-dimensional object
on the computer using the software ‘SolidWorks’. ‘Rhino’ software is
also available. This computer rendering is then put into a rapid
prototyping system to create a real object. There are two systems
available. The Sanders Rapid Prototyping System makes the object out
of wax and Stratasys Rapid Prototyping System makes the object out of
ABS plastic. The wax object is then cast into metal using the
investment casting method. The principles, applications and various
rapid prototyping systems are discussed.

The class is listed as Mechanical Engineering 498x02 or Art 498x02 Sue
Dorman and Dr. Rafiq Noorani ,Instructors
