Questionable commissions

About duplicating a ring in production in the appropriate size- how
about suggesting your client buy the original artist’s ring in the
size closest to her own. Then you size it up or down the rest of the
way. That way you respect the other craftsman’s work, and still
solve her dilema. I work for a company that offers a couple dozen
designs in whole sizes 5-9. Since our profit margin lies in volume
sales, it isn’t practical for us to size rings beyond that for
specific needs. But most of our designs can easily be sized up or
down a size or two. And if it’s one of those designs that really
can’t without distorting the ring, I pass that info on to the vendor
or individual enquiring. Kate
