Can you prolong the life of gold plated sterling or brass?

Why not apply a layer of microcrystalline Wax? Or spray a long lasting/permanent transparent finish? I did it in jewels with LoS patina and gold foil (spray) and until now it’s holding its promise! Hope it helps

Nano ceramic electro plating does a great job on everything except rings because they get banged around too much…

this sounds interesting! i have not heard of nano ceramic elecrtoplating…
do you do this after gold plating?

Nano ceramics are great and simple to use BUT the liquid needs to be used within 6 months. You need that little bit of it that it lasts forever . The layer is so thin -but effective- that you need to plate a lot.
I bought ones a bottle of 1 liter straight from the company Legor in Italy and couldn’t use all of it so I had to trash a great part of it which is a shame. That 1 Liter bottle cost less than 100 ml (if I remember it correct) from Rio Grande.
It is really very good but try to use it all before the shelf life has ended.
