Profile Gauge

I’m doing more cuffs these days and soldering on various SS pressings, bezels for stones etc. Getting the perfect profile for the curvature of the item where it will be soldered on to the cuff can be challenging at times so that there is a perfect solder join. Do any of you use a profile gauge to help with the process? And if so, can you recommend one that is more suited (small pins) to jewelry work? Most of what I’ve seen are geared toward woodworkers. I did find this one, which is the only one I’ve found so far that comes remotely close for the application. Thanks!

Hi,

…it can be helpful to have assorted sized wooden dowel pieces to use with emery paper…maybe you can cut a piece of wood shaped like your basic cuff…maybe a skosh smaller…to use with emery paper…to rub the piece on it…?…or use your bracelet mandrel…for the basic curve…

or!…a wooden baseball ball comes to mind…perhaps cut up…modify top of curve to be flatter…it is tapered…so many radius ti choose from…
