You can also make your own pre-notched pliers notching in some old
pliers with a drill bit, or a file.

And here’s a tip to go along with your new tool: use the tool to cut
notches in wire solder every, say quarter of an inch or so. Touch
this notched solder to any fluxed seam and just the right bit will
flow off the wire onto your piece. I was taught this as a way to
easily close up my seams on tubing - works like a charm. (All credit
