Pricing Cast Jewelry

Hello,

I have been casting my own designs but now I have an opportunity to
cast for a local store and I have no Idea what to charge.

The material will be Gold and Sterling, from one item ( ring ) to a
complete flask ( full ). Some of the items will be cast only and
some will be cast and finish.

I need some ideas on what to charge for my services ? I live in the
So California area ( inland empire )

Thanks for your help, Dennis Montilepre

How many hours did you work last year, and how much money did you
earn? That is the price you are charging for your labor, per hour.
Frightening isn’t it? Now double it. If it’s not enough, raise it,
but for heaven’s sake, do charge for it!

Dennis…

I have been casting my own designs but now I have an opportunity to
cast for a local store and I have no Idea what to charge.

My suggestion would be to contact some casters and check out their
prices. There’s been lots of names floating around lately. Remember
that some charge less because they have high minimums… that should
be a factor.

I use a few different casters and their rates vary greatly…
Anywhere from 0.60 per gram (for tumble finish) to 2.00 a gram and up
for casting and polishing. Both have minimums (usually a flask).
Some charge only for the silver and then a flat rate for each piece
for labor (depending on polish/tumble, etc).

Good luck-
