Dear Orchidians,
I have a client who came to me with a design. I fabricated a
prototype and had multiples cast. The client will now make these
pieces into necklaces and earrings and wholesale them.
How much can/should I make on each piece? How much on silver? Gold?
The pieces cost me approximately $7 in silver and $48 in gold.

There are a number of things to take into consideration; how much
time did it take to make the prototype and what is your labor charge?
Do you do the finishing on the castings? How much is a reasonable
profit on the castings? Also, don’t forget to add in a percent for
your overhead, rent, insurance, etc. These are real costs that are
easily forgotten when pricing things.
