Hi everyone! I’m new here and I need advice.
My husband finally after 30 years bought me my dream wedding ring from a high end shop name starts with P , in less than a year the top part got lost in my own home , I can’t fine the diamonds. We took the ring to the shop they sent it to Europe and the maker said it’s my fault. I’m in disbelief.
Please tell me if I have right to ask the shop for compensation or I just should give up?
I have upload pictures of the ring for you to see it.
Thank you so much in advance.
I just want to add we live in Tokyo Japan.
Hi,
looking at the last pic (bottom right)
question, did the center stone AND the 2 halos of diamonds ALL fall off…?
have you tried contacting “P” company directly yourself? (not just through the retail store?)
julie
To me it looks tarnished and the whole center has fallen off.
Platinum simply do not tarnish or oxidize.
Is the ring gold or platinum? This should be on the maker. There is obviously no reason why the entire top of the ring should break off after only one year or ever two years. The top was obviously not properly soldered into place. Stand your ground and insist on having it replaced or repaired.
Thank you very much!
My husband bought the ring at Piaget shop in Isetan a very prestigious department store in Japan . He took the ring back there and they sent it to Piaget Switzerland, They took more than a month to contact us to say, it must have been my fault.
They can repair if we pay for . I personally think this is so unfair. How come the diamonds fell off that easily? In less than a year!
I really appreciate your advice. Thank you again.
The ring is platinum I think, Piaget still have it, so I can’t confirm but I’m almost sure is platinum, I’ll check other pictures. Yes Platinum.
Hi!, Thank you for answering.
Yes everything fall off! And in my home , but we can’t find it. Maybe when I washed my hand ?.. we called the water technician, but nothing…
The ring was sent to Piaget in Switzerland, they are the ones that said, it was my fault.
In less than a year , how is it possible!?
I do not work in heavy machinery or something like that. I’m so sad . But I think I must stand my ground. What do you think?
The ring is platinum.
Thank you! They still have the ring , I think is not oxidative but tarnish.
Thank you again for answering.
I’m still in disbelief, how can the diamond and the halos fall of all at once!?..
If it tarnish it is not Platinum, since Platinum neither oxidize nor tarnish.
You can heat it to a white glow in air and it will be just as fine.
Are you sure it is real and not some kind of knock off?
My husband Timothy W Green and I work in platinum. A lot. He recently retired from working at the very highly regarded Platinum casting factory TechForm Platinum Casting. Both in the US and Internationally. Between the combined two of us we have over 100 years of experience in bespoke high end jewelry making. Regardless if the ring is Platinum or White Gold our theory is that the top section was poorly/ incompletely soldered and/or lasered into place. We can tell by how rough and crystallized the surface where the two parts were attached. Platinum is really tough stuff. This shouldn’t have happened. Piaget definitely messed up. Were I you I would contact Piaget directly. Oh and feel free to attach our missive, opinion, and these links to your correspondence. https://techformcasting.com/ And finally Piaget is currently owned by Richemont Richemont - Wikipedia. You might even want to reach out to them as well. Find out from your jeweler who sold you the ring where in Europe he sent the piece. And if you contact them directly feel free to copy and paste this info. Embrace your inner Operatic Soprano Diva and do not take no for an answer. If you or they want any more info about us to verify who we are here is our web site www.finejewelrycraftsman.com
Best wishes and good luck.
Thank you so much!!
My husband bought the ring at the Piaget shop , is Piaget Japan .
Today finally the boss of the lady that sold us the ring called me and said that Piaget Switzerland said , it was my fault, that I must had crushed the ring , this is not true, I did not crush the ring, I asked to talk to someone in charge in Switzerland or Japan , they refused at the beginning but today this representative of Piaget Japan called me to say that because it was my fault, Piaget Switzerland offered to fix the ring for almost 8 thousand USA dollars but , Piaget Japan will pay a portion and I’ll have to pay around 5 thousand dollars. They will not admit it was their fault.
I told him then is better to sue them because they will do it again to someone else if I just let it happen.
I can’t believe that a company like Piaget can be this dishonest. The gentleman told me that I damaged the ring, I told him it is not a toy, how can be damaged just for wearing it for less than a year?
He just shut up.
Sorry to bother you and your husband telling you all of this.
You have no idea how grateful I’m for your advice and the great help that you are giving me.
They still have the ring in Switzerland.
My husband say not to fix it , just let’s sue them. The sad thing is that in Japan a law suit is not like in USA , it takes ages to see any result.
Another thing is, we don’t believe that for that amount of money, Piaget will give us the same quality of diamonds that my husband paid for.
With all the information you have provided me, I’ll talk with them again. If the situation still the same , then I think is no other option than to sue Piaget Japan. Because as much as they say Piaget Switzerland have the last word, we bought the ring in Tokyo.
Again,
Thank you very much for your immensely kind response!
It is real, it was bought at Piaget shop in Tokyo.
Thank you so much for answering.
The situation right now is that they do not want to recognise the ring was not well made. They put the blame on me.” I must had crushed” , Piaget Switzerland said.
Did you by any chance copy and paste my response and email it to Piaget? It might help. Also keep threatening them with a law suit and even better drown them out with social media. Also go directly to Piaget’s Conditions Of Service site. Add my response to your comments. Keep going after them.
Nothing scares a business more than being called out for bad service.
Oh and here is a link the the Richemont wiki page. Richemont - Wikipedia
The own a lot of jewelry businesses like Cartier and Vacheron Constantin. I hope that you can eventually get properly reimbursed.
