Polymer clays and lost wax casting

Hi all – Has anyone here used polymer clay (such as Fimo or Sculpey)
instead of wax as a modeling media for casting? If so, does it burn
out cleanly? What changes to burnout time/temps did you use?

Thanks in advance,
Talia

Burning out polymer clay is a bad idea. It’s been explained to me
that the stuff is basically PVC. You shouldn’t even breathe the
fumes when you’re baking polymer, so the fumes when burning it out
would be really bad.

If you really like it as a model making material, why not try
sculpting wax? Or, make your model in polymer and then make a
silicon RTV mold of it.
