I’ve been trying to get that mirror polish on a couple of hematite
cabs, and it just won’t do it. I’ve tried cerium oxide on leather and
also some Linde A. Any ideas?

Hematite is normally not difficult to polish. Linde A should get the
job done with no problem. Often, when I have difficulties getting a
good final polish on a cab. I find that it is because I did not do a
thorough job on a previous step. Taking the stone back through the
sanding process a second time often gives me good results when the
stone doesn’t seem to polish the first time.
