I love the versatility of the grs mount feature. Replace the bench pin with the polishing box is quick. I use it everyday and it is strong. I don’t have any crack you mentioned.
The 1 1/4 outlet can be connected to a vacuum or the dust collection fan.

I extended the screw with stainless welding rod ( which is great for tons of stuff) this is the thinner filler rod. Small piece shown.
Get it as straight as you can
