Polisher Exhaust and Steamer PSI

Thanks to all of you who answered my question about heat vs no heat
for ultrasonic cleaners. I decided to invest in a small GemOro with
heat. Very helpful input.

Now two new questions: Are shop-vacs (plus some kind of hood)
workable substitutes for polisher cabinets? I saw in the archives
that several people have tried this out - how has it worked?

Second question: How much PSI do you need from a steam cleaner?
There seems to be quite a bit of variation, as well as concerns
about pressure dropping.

Just starting out - still an impoverished gemology/jewelry student.

Thanks!

Hello Nancy, I’m a little spacey due to a bad case of poison ivy -
drowsy, anti- itch drugs, etc. :frowning: Anyway, You’ll like your GemOro.
I’ve used mine for several years - albiet intermittently - and have
had good service. Just so you know, as I think we may have the same
unit, the heat will only work WHILE the unit is "sonicing.“
Therefore you will need to either preheat your cleaning solution in
the microwave, or turn on the sonic ahead of the time you will use
it. It heats fairly quickly - 20 min. Also do get the ultrasonic
"guidebook” that Ken Katosi from Montana posted to Orchid (am I
correct here Ken?). You can download it and print it off. VERY
useful. Have fun with your new toy… I hope this made sense. Judy in
