Pocket watch cases

Greetings All, Does anyone know where I might get some custom watch
cases made, as well as manual movements? I have got it in my head to
create a new line of quality pocket watches, and wish to design a
special case and face.

Thanks,

Allan Heywood didn’t write that at all - he was responding to it -
somewhere in the editing it got zapped! What he did write was:

Ron deCorte is about as good as they get Andrew.

Edited: My appologies!! Hanuman

I know Ron personally as he was my instructor during my student year
at American Watchmaker’s Institute. He makes fine watch movements
and hires some one else to handcraft the pocket watch cases.

You could try to contact Ron or try at this site.

I can make wristwatch cases, so if you are interested, I can be
reached off list at @Dan_Biery.

Pocket watch cases requires a heavy lathe with threading
attachments. The large back area ( and front if a cover is desired )
is done by hand shaping with a burnisher. The rest is cut and shaped
and thr bezels threaded on the lathe. Then the stem, springs, etc.
are hand crafted and assembled by way of a skilled bench jeweler.

If anyone is interested I have about 100 old gold filled and gold
plated pocket watch and wrist watch cases, all jumbled together in a
shoebox, acquired quite a few years ago along with an assortment of
used lapidary equipment. I’d say they’d be about 75 percent pocket
watch cases. As to their state of repair or usefulness, I can’t say
anything, as that is an area with which I’m not familiar at all. But
if you’re interested, contact me off-list.
