Pickle help / endcaps

Hello, I ordered dry pickle mix from Rio and the mix instructions are
given in ounces to water. Is there anyone out there who uses it who
might be able to tell me how much that is in spoons or cups? I tried
writing to them and got a quick we’ll look into it response but
haven’t heard back or gotten a reply to my second email.

Also, how does one go about soldering on endcaps? I have cast
endcaps that i need to solder onto a woven chain. I haven’t been
able to find in books or online instructions for this.

oh and belated thanks to folks on class reocmmendations

Melissa, I have been using a pickle using 3/4 cup of sodium bisulfate
(granular) with 3 1/2 cups of water. Mix it using luke warm tap
water to ensure quick dissolving. I keep mine in a small crock pot.
I hope this helps, Tom

Well, as it happens, I checked this out, to be able to post real
simple instructions in the classroom studio. It turns out, according
to my measurements, anyway, that an ounce of dry pickle (weight) is
also an ounce of dry pickle (volume). But, you know what? It really
doesn’t matter. We had been using a way more dilute solution for
years and years, and the person mixing it saw no reason to change,
as it worked fine-- and I have to admit, it did. Now we’re using
citric acid, anyway. It also works just fine, and the fume situation
is a world better. --Noel

I use 7/8 cup (I use 3 x 1/4 cup scoops and then 1/2 x a 1/4 cup
scoop) of pickle powder (Rio Pickle) with 3 cups water. It doesn’t
seem to be critical if it is a hair off.
