Hiya Orchidites!!! I have some questions regarding the finishing of
pewter. Does anyone have a favorite routine? What are the best
compounds to use? Is a faster or slower motor better? Any help would
be greatly appreciated!!!

Dear Harry,
I tried pewter last spring. I made a dish with a polished inner
surface and a contrasting outer surface. For the shiny surface I
worked through various grades of sandpaper then I gave it a final
buff with Simichrome polish. I’m not sure of the spelling. On the
outside for a machined look I ran a separating disk down the surface,
perpendicular to the normal cutting direction. I tried a ball burr
but I wasn’t happy with the surface.
