Perceived value

I have been advised to read a book called Influence: The Psychology
of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini. So far, I have read the first few
pages and I am very impressed (I’ve also read excerpts posted
elsewhere).

The first story in the book, which is about selling jewelry, will be
of interest to many people on this list. In fact, I wouldn’t be
surprised if some of you know the unnamed store owner in Arizona who
is the subject of this story.

The punch line is at the end of the excerpt: “expensive = good” for
“quality-hungry buyers.” May such creatures always find their way to
Orchidians.

Lisa, that is one of my favorite books. It is a social psychology
one that really tells us about how we interact as people and our
perceptions. I have cited this book on numerous occasions for school.
