'Penny' ..The Plater ( Cheap Stuff)

Hey do u need a Pen Plater for Silver/Gold(Rhodium cost more!) .
. CHEAP?

Well, let me introduce u to Penny … the Plater!!

Penny pen-plates silver and gold. She has 2 primary parts;

    • An AC Adapter(variable) which can be purchased from Radio
Shack. The adapter is variable from 1.5 to 12 volts and is rated
at 300ma which according to Rio Grande(or Gesswein in their
catalog… can’t remember which) qualifies Penny for
      ‘Electoforming’(Rio Grande’s is rated at 300ma). … about
      $12.50
    • A Plating Pen which I have search for, for sometime and
      finally found at this address.
      http://www.peganet.com/dalmar/dalmarhm.html(just search on . . .
www.dalmarplating.com). They have an on-line catalog which
shows the pen. They had a small problem with their e-mail so got
to meet them over the net… Ron and Dale (seems to be nice
guys). The pen is about 5 inches long. Has a Titanium anode,
screw cap end(like a ink pen) with a clip in 1/8 inch (small)
tip(don’t buy the tips… can get them much cheaper from other
places (Hope green doesn’t offend anyone!) … lead comes with a
male connector so wait til u get the pen to pick up a female
connector from Radio Shack or whoever … The pen is $24.95,
GET THIS … MENTIONS THE ‘’‘FORUM’‘’ FOR A PRICE OF $23.95
(POWER OF THE NET!!). . . They forgot or didn’t charge mailing …

Soooo . . . heres PENNY … THE PLATER (Check out Rio and
Gesswein price … Chock, Gag !!

HEEE RRRR EEEE ‘’ SSSSSS, PENNY. . . PLATETY DE PLATE, PLATETY DE PLATE!!!

WORKING ON PENNY’S LITTLE BROTHER . . . . SHOWTIME!!!

Need a little help here, please!

Showtime is portable, to take to shows for those little places
that need attention in the bright sunlight and no Electricity!!!

Here’s what ‘Showtime’ looks like so far;

    • A container, like a pen flashlight that holds 2 AA
bateries!! (Gut the flashlight, attach a line . . the Anode to
the top battery via the spring inside or drill through to battery
(plan for rechargeable batteries(at least 2 sets for the trip??).
    • Small piece of ur Titanium solder pick which is stuck in to
the end of a 1/8 inch pen tip which touches the battery( +
to minus inside, with + end attached to line at the end,
‘-’ end to titanium to pen tip). The pen tip and be held in
place with shrink rap(also at Radio Shack…my third home…
      Home Depot being number 2).

. . . . . . . PUT THE QUESTION . . . . . . .

Will 2 AA SANYO Rechargeable batteries RATED AT 1.2 v. AT 600mAh
. . a little more than normal rechargeable. do the job … what
I mean is, will I be able to use it for, say, X minutes of work
or more… Really don’t want to go to the work if there’s no
hope!

Jim:

Why not use “D” size batteries and get a lot more capacity for
about the same price? The voltage will be about the same, you
may need some way of varying the voltage or current, but it
should be easy to rig and the larger battery will give you lots
more time. There are battery cases (from Radio Shack, I think)
available that take two D’s. Also check Jerry Wykoff’s book on
jewelry design for a battery operated plating pen you can make
yourself … not $23.95, but almost nothing.

Though about the 2 Ds… felt they would be ackward to handle if
you were plating a prong, or small surface… The As are just
smaller… case maybe a problem…
