Patina protection strategies

I am working with brass and copper now as the price of silver and
gold has skyrocketed.

I’m using several different surface patinas but need some method to
preserve them longer. With the heat and stickiness of summer, my
brass gets dull and tarnished with handling.

I’ve tried varnish sprays, but you can see the residue…is there
something that works well for you?

Thanks,
Pat

I’m doing some tests with Protecta clear, it is a thin coat for
brass, copper, and gold plated items.

Hope this helps,
Melissa

I prefer to use Renaissance Wax.

Try ProtectaClear from Everbritecoatings.com. It comes in shiny and
satin finish and works on all metals. Not affiliated with them in any
way, just a happy customer.

Check out the Sculpt Noveau products:

no affiliation here either but I love their products…

Michelle,

What kind of patina’s have you used the protecta clear on? I haven’t
found any coating that will sustain some of the beautiful colors you
get on metal with Liver of Sulphur, like the blues and magenta’s -
any success with that?
