Passing of Shannon Hill, a Great Artist

Some of you out there in Orchid land may have heard of Shannon Hill,
glass blower and lampworker extraordinair. Shannon Hill passed away
Sunday after a year long battle with cancer at the age of 40. Shannon
accomplished much in his 40 years. In additon to teaching hundreds of
students the art of glass working, he made a number of DVDs on glass
working and created many styles of glass beads and art jewelry glass
works sought by connoisseurs nationwide.

For a number of years, Shannon taught glass working in his studio in
Boca Raton, FL and for the last year he taught at the Boca Raton
Museum of Art - The Art School. Shannon was a friend, co-worker, and
teacher whom I admired very much. He will be missed greatly by those
who knew him and by those who admired his work. Following is the
announcement I received today from the Art School.

Shannon was indeed a great glass artist. I have done numerous shows
with him and have always enjoyed him as a fellow exhibitor. He will
be much missed in the bead/glass community.
