P.O. Boxes

All, Do you think your P.O. Box is a safe place? It is not. We just
lost a parcel and who knows how many other articles out of our P.O.
Box. Not by thief’s from within the Postal Service, but from thief’s
that reach through an adjacent box and steal out of your box. From
what I can get out of the US Postal Service this is a known problem
and no fix is in the works. Make sure that all articles are sent to
you with a signature required. That way they will not leave articles
in your box for someone else to steal. Gerry Galarneau

At my post office we have a fix, they put a key in your box and you
get the key and open a airport storage type box to get your package,
they put the key way up near the door (probably because it is harder
to grab it there) Laura

We have that system too, at our P.O. (fairly recent innovation). But
our P.O. boxes are way too deep for anyone to be able to reach
through and around into anyone else’s box. margaret

All, I thought our boxes were too deep also. Get the Post Office to
let you try to reach through, you may be surprized. My Post Office
also uses airport style boxes, but when a package will fit in the
regular box it gets stuffed in. Sometimes it will hang out the back.
That is when it is vulnerable.
