Orchidian Bruce Holmgrain Passed Away

Dear Orchid Friends,

It is with a heavy heart I make you aware of the passing of Bruce
Holmgrain CMBJ. He died Saturday after a long battle with lung
cancer. He leaves his wife and two children.

Bruce was the man who thirty years ago, handed me the knowledge for
a wonderful career. Under his tutelage in a four year apprenticeship,
I developed skills that have served me for all these many years.

He was the first Certified Master Bench Jeweler in the State of
Maryland.

I could only dream of having the skilled hands that he had.

Many of you may not have know him personally, but his posts here on
orchid were always well thought out and informative.

I will miss my mentor and dear friend.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Dear Lawrence, I did know Bruce and I am much saddened by his
passing away.

He was a good guy and I will miss him. We always intended to work
together for awhile but but somehow never did.He will be missed by
all who knew him. Take care.

That is truly sad to hear. Bruce had a great wealth of knowledge
that he freely shared. This is a great loss to us all. My thoughts
are with his family.

Thank you for letting us know Lawrence. I am so sorry to hear of
Bruce’s passing. I did not know him personally but have benefited
from his Orchid postings for many years now. Such a skilled jeweler,
I am very grateful for all the he shared through Orchid.
I feel lucky to have known him even in that small way.

I pulled up info about his funeral and saw that donations were to go
to the Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation, 1414 Prince Street, Suite
400, Alexandria, VA 22314 http://tglclassic.com/

You are missed Bruce.
