(Orchid] Platinum workshops?

A friend of mine who borrows my studio from time to time has a
project he wants to do in platinum. I work in gold and silver and
know nothing about working with platinum, except that he should not
use my studio and tools or else he will contaminate the platinum.
So I thought it would be a good idea if he could take a platinum
class or workshop to learn about working with platinum (he has no
experience with it, either) and to have access to a platinum work
space.

The Casting Platinum and Fabrication V: Platinum 3 day workshops
at the Revere Academy would be perfect, except we are on the east
coast (New York). Alan, do you ever have your workshops offered
anywhere out this way? Does anyone know of any good
classes/workshops in the Northeast? Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

To my knowledge this is the only school offering short classes in Platinum
Fabrication and Platinum Casting. Next term we will add Platinum Basics,
all taught by professionals who use these skills every day.

As far as offering classes elsewhere, I travel to teach, but have not
considered teaching platinum classes anywhere else. (I will teach Hinges
and Chains at Appalachain Center for Crafts in June, Design at Calgary in
October and Setting in Oklahoma in November.)

Come to San Francisco! Most classes wrap around a weekend to make it
convenient. You can fly from anywhere in the US on a Thursday evening
after work. Take a class Friday, Saturday and Sunday and fly home Sunday
night. If you plan ahead the costs can be surprisingly reasonable.

I know we are not in your back yard, but this country is only 5 hours
wide. And on top of gaining new skills in a friendly and professional
atmosphere, you get to come to San Francisco. This is the most popular
American city for travelers for good reason. It is really a great place to
visit. Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope to see you out
here soon. Alan RevereAcademy.com
