Orange/green sterling

There have been times where I’ve worked on a sterling piece and it ends up with fantastic colors in organic patterns; orange, green, gray and more. I know this is from firescale, and we usually want to avoid this, but I want to instead find the best way to bring this out. It seems like the side facing away from the torch picks up color better, and boric acid may play a part? I haven’t been able to quite figure out a consistent way to bring out this “mistake”.
