I was
wondering if anyone could give me on the book
Jewelry Concepts and Technology, by Oppi Untracht. Is it worth
the investment?
The investment is right! It is an old enough book to be in most
libraries, so check it out first. It has a lot of goodies like
tables comparing sawblade size, drill size, and wire and sheet
gauge. These tables have multiple units in them so you can
compare different measure systems, too, something I’ve found so
valuable that I xeroxed the pages and hang them over the bench
for quick reference.
The book is so comprehensive that it makes a great reference
generally over the years, as your needs change. I’ve used it
since I was 16. I don’t think you’d regret the bucks even if it
collects dust now and again-- you’ll come back to it. But
definitely not a “how-to” sort of book, if that is what you
really need.
