Hello All, I work as a commercial jeweller in Sydney (Australia) and I
would greatly appreciate if anyone has or experiences to
share about working in the jewellery trade in Atlanta during the 1996
Olympics. Was there an increase in trade? Did the customers have
unusual requests or demands on the times for services to be provided?

now that the Olympics are over, I feel confident enough to suggest
that as far as trading was concerned, the Olympics have been a
disaster. I don’t know any jewellers who didn’t experience a downturn
in business over the Olympic period. Perhaps some of the tourist
targetted jewellers around the Rocks area made a killing, but I
haven’t heard any confirmation of that. Kind regards, Rex
