NYExpo 3/23-25

Morning to all:-)

About the MJSA Expo at the Show Piers in NYC. Tim said it was
sort of a retail “jamboree”. Does mean that the cash and carry
was not really “wholesale”? Was it similiar to the
Fashion/Accessory shows (they now have a cash and carry area)? If
anyone else has attended in the past any additional information
would be really helpful. I work mainly in 22Kt. (sometimes in
Fine Silver) and only fabricate, my pieces are one-of-a-kind .
Since I don’t do large volume, I’m always looking for small
amounts of stones, etc., at decent prices. Thanks for any info
you can share.

The MJSA (Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths of America)
Expo is not a retail “jamboree”. It is for manufacturers. What
you have is a series of seminars for manufacturers, tool
exhibits, and product displays. This year is an especially good
show. Day one consists of seminars for jewelry designers. Day two
is centered around platinum work, I forget the other 3 days as
someone took my flyer! The newest and best tools for the
manufacturers are showcased and demonstrated Most dealers can
only take orders, which they ship from their home office, I don’t
think cash and carry is practiced at this show. I hope to be
there if at all possible, the life of a single parent doesn’t
always allow my predilictions…

On Saturday, March 22,from 9-5, Platinum Guild International USA
in conjunction with MJSA will present the 3rd annual Platinum Day
Symposium. Here experts in the industry will present papers, as
they relate to manufacturing platinum. The enrollment is through
MJSA and the cost is $45.00, which includes a great lunch. The
event will take place at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers and
is hosted by me. After the Platinum Day Symposium, PGI will
publish the papers and make them available to the industry. For
copies of the previously published papers please fax a request
using your letterhead or business card to 714 760-8780. Have a
great platinum day PLATINUM GUILD INTERNATIONAL USA Jurgen J.

About the MJSA Expo at the Show Piers in NYC.

MJSA has a Providence Show and a NYC show. It consists of a lot
of Providence findings and equipment manufacturers. Also, there
is a selection of loose stone dealers. There are not many
finished g exotic. Most of the stones are small calibrated
material and semi-finished metal products can almost all be
found in either a General Findings or Stuller catalog. This
show is most interesting i Hope this helps, Wm

About the MJSA Expo at the Show Piers in NYC.

MJSA has a Providence Show and a NYC show. It consists of a lot
of Providence findings and equipment manufacturers. Also, there
is a selection of loose stone dealers. There are not many
finished jewelry exhibitors (Stuller semi-mounts, etc), and I
recall that some paperwork was required to get in. It is a
medium size show (maybe 250 exhibitors) primarily focused to
serve, surprisingly enough, the manufacturing jeweler. It is
possible to get good values on small quantities, but there is
rarely anything exotic. Most of the stones are small calibrated
material and semi-finished metal products can almost all be found
in either a General Findings or Stuller catalog. This show is
most interesting if you are considering volume production and
want to price shop.

Hope this helps,
