Niello suppliers

Hello all! I’ve been looking around in the Orchid Archives and on the
internet for Niello suppliers, does anybody know of a company that
markets the stuff or does anybody have a stash that they are willing
to sell?

I’ve been wanting to experiment with this material and I have the
recipies on how to make the stuff but would much prefer to buy it
than make it myself… (cough… gasp, toxic fumes comes to mind)

thanks for the input

Aw cmon. You’d be missing all the fun! Just do it outside. get a
copy of Tim McCreights “Metals Technic” book, and follow the
directions in the chapter by the late Phillip Fike. It’s not hard
to make, and you’ll feel so much more satisfaction with using it if
you made it yourself… Without that part, you might as well be just
inlaying a bit of ceramit resin… Well, perhaps I’m going
overboard now. But seriously. it’s not that hard, and done
outdoors on a day with a bit of breeze, you’ll be just fine. The
only real fumes are those of sulphur. nasty to be sure, but it’s
not like the little bit of sulphur smell you’ll get outdoors is gonna
do you any harm (remember, I DID say outdoors. So does Phillip).
