Nickle Silver

Hi everyone, I starting a new fabrication project with nickle
silver and was wondering if this medium requires any special
techniques. Can I use the same flux I use for soldering
sterling?

Thanks, Steve

I have been using nickel-silver for about 4 years and haven’t
found any reason for special techniques, although it requires
more heat than sterling when soldering. Flux- I use BATTERNS - a
self-pickeling flux.

Hi Steve,
You sure can use the same technques but nickle silver
is more difficult to clean after heating and is more difficult
to anneal. The fact that it doesn’t anneal as easily can be
useful. I use a paste flux because it seems to hold up under
heating better than a liquid for me. Marilyn smith
