Neoprene rubber cement uncertainties

I have been using neoprene rubber with super glue style cements with
some success.

I have noticed that the neoprene rubber will not always adhere to
the inside of the closely fitting tube successfully.

I have tried cleaning the neopren of any silicone oils etc by wahing
in acetone with not more success.

If any one has the correct procedure or good experiences with
cementing neoprene I would love to hear all about it.

JB weld is the answer. When you want to release it from the rubber
after it’s dried, you must torch it. Great stuff.

Brendan,

I make up these rubber cords all the time. Us the two part jewelers
epoxy like you see in the Rio catalog. I have made many of these
cords and have only seen a couple come apart after much wear and
tear. The superglue has may limitations that people don’t realize and
rubber is on of the problem materials to glue.

Go to a scuba diving shop they have the glue you need. I don’t
remember the name off hand, but I use it all the time for dive suit
repairs. It is specially designed for neoprene.
