Music to work by

I haven’t noticed this mentioned before. So, if you have a Mac and
iTunes you have access to streaming audio sources in all genres of
music. There must be 150 addresses. As I mentiioned previously my
favorite is 'chanteurs.org. It helps me to improve my French.

I listen while I’m at the computer. I don’t listen while working in
the studio; I find it distracting.

I love this thread and had to put my two cents worth in. A while ago,
while ending approximately 16 hours in my tiny shop, I realized that
I had not heard my tunes in a while. As this thought was realized, I
felt as if I was “returning” to my body. The next thought was “Oh, I
am at a concert”, then followed by the realization of where I was.
There were NO outside or illegal stimulants involved here just an
incredible experience of “hyper-concentration”. Would love to “Get
back” to that place again!

As for music… someone that fellow Orchidians might enjoy is Corkey
Siegels’ Chamber Blues CD’s. He has assembled classically trained
musicians and they meld influences from Blues to classical together
into some great music.

(From Michael in WI where the hammers ring true on my rain chime
bells.)

Digitally Imported is where I go to for a variety of online streamed
music, Classical Guitar to House.

Yes, absolutely. The “must hear” is “Three Pieces for Blues Band and
Orchestra” which he enregistred with the San Francisco Symphony
Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa where they play Russo and Bernstein. A
marvelous piece of music.

Ah, Michael knows his blues… Also the Siegal-Schwall band is a
fairly obscure pleasure always - where Corky comes from,
musically…

OK, I thought I’d share one last thing. This one wins the prize (a
hearty handshake, no doubt) for the strangest music site, hands down.
It’s also really interesting. Go to http://www.anetstation.com

and poke around, and listen. Make sure you go to the “About” page, so
you can see the guys hut and station in Antarctica, which is where it
comes from, and read his story: “We play music by artists who perform
internationally and usually carry their own guitar cases.” The music
is a country/folk/light rock mix mostly - Jesse Colin Young is there.
It’s also a loop, so it can get old after a bit - not random access,
it’s a tape. Make sure to look into the links and the USGS list of
polar resources and things, and the photo albums - you’ll need to
poke around a bit. One of the places I’d love to go to, Antarctica,
and this gives a neat insight into it, if you look around a bit.
Music’s not bad, either.
