try putting some steel wool in the palm >of your hand and run the chain thru it. it will dull the chain.
This will indeed work. Use the finest grade you can get- usually
0000. But it is critical that you get ALL of the little bits of
broken steel wool out of the chain when you finish, because they can
rust and leave an orange residue.
