Marya Williams was born and raised in Berkeley, California where her first jewelry class in high school introduced her to metalsmithing and casting. After a few years of selling beaded jewelry she enrolled in Thundering Seas School for silversmiths on the coast of Oregon. Upon returning to the Bay Area she earned her Graduate Jeweler Certificate from the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts.
She specializes in combining sterling silver with various karats of gold. Most of her work is hand fabricated using traditional goldsmithing techniques. She finds inspiration for her designs in the inherent beauty of the metals, utilizing their natural tarnishing abilities and highlighting the contrasting colors of silver and gold. She works out of her studio in downtown San Francisco.
