Maori cord work

does anyone know about maori cording, or do it???, like the wrapping
they put on the fish hook designs and the jade pieces for jewelry,
i can’t find any books on the subject, i have heard that there is a
maori university in new zealand where it is taught along with other
arts, i would like to incorporate wrapped cord in my jewelry and
love this stuff i find beautiful carved pendants by kerry thompson,

thanks, dave

Ironically enough, one of the ‘kids’ craft books is probably just
what you need:

Cords were traditionally made with flax and flax is surprisingly
easy to use.

Each traditional design has a significance, so be careful about
treading on cultural toes.
