Making a crown collet style ring with grooves

Friends,

I want to publically acknowledge Leonid Surpin and thank him for
posting the step-by-step photos and descriptions on his web site for
making a crown collet style ring with grooves.

… I recently had designed a ring of a similar style, but hadn’t
started it. With my intermediate skills, I was obsessively thinking
through each step and somewhat nervous that I was missing something,
and therefore reluctant to start. While I thought that I had
everything figured out before I saw Leonid’s site, I ended up
changing the sequence of one step and the method for another step.
While it could have been done my way, these changes improved the
process and really gave me confidence that I wasn’t missing anything
before I started. So again, thank you Leonid.

I also want to mention that Hans Meevis has a nice tutorial for a
crown colleton his web site. It’s a different style from Leonid’s,
but also very handsome.

You welcome. Crown collet is an old technique, but still outperforms
almost anything as far as durability, wearability, gemstone
protection, and beauty.
