Lost stones et al

G’day; a recent posting suggested putting a torch on the floor
and picking up the shadow of a lost stone. That wouldn’t work in
my jewellery workshop; the floor is far too messy as a rule,
partly due to the fact that it is a little room off my general
wood workshop, and shavings and sawdust get tracked in all the
time. I have retrieved bits of gold and some gemstones by
finally giving up the visual search, emptying out the vacuum
cleaner and giving the whole place a good going-over. The
almost-filled bag is emptied into my old gold pan, water is added
and I literally ‘pan’ the sweepings - and I nearly always
retrieve the lost item(s). Then I pour myself a tot of ‘Nelson’s
Blood’ to celebrate. Alright, think of a better excuse?
Cheers.
