does anyone have a recommendation for a plater in NYC or the hudson
valley? I need to gold plate some thin steel parts and have just
moved into the area.

Having had unsuccessful experiences in the NYC area for platers,(gold
is flash plated and wears off almost immediately) I would STRONGLY
recommend that you look in the Providence, RI area for a plater.
Providence is geared for the fashion or costume jewelry industry.
With the usual disclaimers, I have had a 16 year positive
relationship with General Platers in Providence. They are reasonable,
honest, and will go out of their way to return orders fast. It’s
worth a shipping cost to get a reliable product, right?
