[Looking4] Alexandrite

Does anyone know a good source for alexandrite? Not sure if I am
looking for stones or a finished piece. A friend’s daughter had
lukemia and has asked for something with it. Not sure what kind of
piece she wants. Maybe heart shapes? Not sure about that.

Thank you for any to help me.

There is no such thing as a good source for alexandrite. It is one of
the rarest stones. It can be found but it takes time. Be prepared to
pay thousands per carat plus expenses, if you want a nice color
change. There are sub-standard stone on the market, which called
alexandrite by unscrupulous dealers, but such stones is in effect is
color change chrysoberyl. Alexandrite was named in honor of Czar
Alexander II and must exhibit raspberry red to emerald green color
change, which represents colors of Russian Imperial Court.
