Hi
I have just graduated from MassArt with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in
Industrial Design, having taken a special interest in Metals
(jewelry in particular). I just moved to New Haven, CT and am
wondering if you could give me tips on acquiring an internship in the
area. I am looking for a starting position, a bench position, where I
can help the Jeweler with time consuming tasks and refine my skills.
I have taken 3 semesters of metals, and learned sawing, polishing
patinas, soldering, raising, streching, repousse, some wax carving
and investment casting. This gave me enough training to begin making
my own designs, which I have sold both privately and at public school
sales. With my training as an industrial designer I have also
learned to work with many different materials, including plastics,
wood, various foams and fabrics. But overall it is my passion for
silversmithing that persists and that is what I want to focus all my
energy on.
I can provide a .pdf file of my resume and have several finished
pieces of jewelry that I can show as samples of work along with a
complete design portfolio with my other industrial design projects.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards.
