Leaf shaped mandrel

I’m looking for a leaf shaped mandrel. I want to match some links I made some years back using a friend’s. Although I can find small triblets I can’t find anything larger.

If they are all to be the same size, you could shape the mandrel out of a piece of wood or even soft steel on a grinding belt. I have added different size nails together to get a shape that I want and then tape them together to hold the shape. I don’t know the term triblet. It appears to just be another name for a mandrel…Rob

I don’t know about its availability but Bellzona Metal was used for restoration work in The Boatyard I once was employed in forty years ago. We would shape it to a form and let it cure. It took a beating well. Shaft ways and wheels mainly. I see no reason why it wouldn’t work some forms. But then I haven’t used it in forty years. Some research should follow.

Hi,

i am not sure what dimensions or thickness you are looking to replicate…

perhaps draw out the shape and then create a bending jig with wood and pins/ nails…or bend by hand with pliers and then check the bends against your drawing…
