Laser Scanner

Does anyone here use a laser scanner to make a 3D model of jewelry and gems? I am looking to invest in one.

I don’t, but I really would like to know about it.

I just finished this drawing, the center is a odd shaped tourmaline ( very deep and not calibrated ) so i scanned it to make sure it fits ok for the setter

Which model laser scanner do you use?

eLUXE3D scanner is what I’m using, I’ve used it since 2018. I don’t use it as often as I would like . But when I need it …. it’s great. The technology has to have evolved so much since I bought this

Curious as to the usage of such a process. If the goal is to scan fabricated pieces for replication and casting, you’d be better off modeling or having someone model them. The mesh you get from scanning is high poly with no primitives, which makes adjustment difficult and arduous.
