Laser fixing lobster clasps

Just wanting to see if any of you guys are repairing lobster claws
with the laser?

   Just wanting to see if any of you guys are repairing lobster
claws with the laser? 

The springs are what usually go bad on the claw clasps. Soldering
the tail when they wear is usually not a problem…on gold ones. On
the larger clasps you can usually spread the sides, pull out the
trigger, and make a new wire with thin spring wire. Then reassemble
it.

A laser might be overkill for this job.

Scott,

I repair everything with my laser. I basically use my torch for
annealing and casting. I can hold the lobster claw in my hand and the
heat is dissipated so as not to get burned. If the spring is bad I
just put a new lobster claw on.

where did you get the laser? How much was it? How did you learn to
use it?
