Hello, my wife and i are taking a trip to the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic in January, and I’m looking for slabs of good quality Larimar to take home with me to make cabochons.
I understand bringing home “rough” is illegal but I’ve heard some buy large stones with one side polished. Would slabs get around the no rough allowed rule? Also if there are skilled cabochon makers on the island, I’m certainly willing to pay for their work and avoid having to do it myself.
Any suggestions of reputation brokers in Punta Cana or would i have to go closer to the mine?
