Lapidary for agate drilling

I want to have a 2-3 mm diameter hole drilled in an agate seal bead.
The present hole is too small for use.

Any suggestion?
Thanks, Jay

Hi Jay,

Agates are around 7 1/2 to 8 on the hardness scale so you have to
use a diamond drill with a flex shaft machine or a small drill press.
You’ll need to keep the drill tip wet while enlarging the hole, so
just take your time and don’t run it at to high of a speed or you’ll
burn the diamond off the drill bit. I hope this helped,

Mark

You can find a 3mm diamond core drill at Rio Grande or many other
sources. Use it wet, with a gradual, pecking motion.
