Knifemaking with Tim McCreight - 5 days May 6-10 ( Mon- Fri, 9-5)
$695 This ambitious workshop will introduce participants to the
exciting possibilities of knifemaking. Working with basic handtools,
we"ll use the stock removal method to create a fixed blade paring
knife and a single-blade folder (folding pocket knife). Skills
learned along the way include sawing, drilling, filing, hardening,
tempering, soldering and making rivets. Metalworking skills come in
handy, but you don"t need to be a blacksmith to take this class.
Tim McCreight has taught metalsmithing and design for 25 years and
is currently a professor at Maine College of Art in Portland. Tim has
written 11 books on metalworking, including The Complete Metalsmith
and Custom Knifemaking. Tim teaches workshops around the country and
writes for severa l magazines from his home on the Maine coast.
