I just found out that Capt. John Sinkankas passed away. Some of you
knew him as an author of several mineral and gemstone books, and to
many of you, John was a friend. I was his teaching assistant (and
student) for Mineralogy at SDSU many years ago. Since then, he
offered his advice and encouragement to many of my projects. He was a
friend, a mentor, and will be missed. Will Estavillo
